What is marketing analytics?

What is marketing analytics software and what is it used for?
Marketing analytics software are usually online-based platforms which collect, display and analyse metrics from your online channels.
If you run digital advertising campaigns, most advertising platforms, such as Google Ads and Facebook Ads Manager will have analytics built-in. This will show you how your campaigns are performing and give an indication of who is interacting with them.
Third-party analytics are standalone platforms like Google Analytics, which pull in data from multiple channels (including advertising platforms) to give you a more granular view of all of your online presence in a single place.
Digital Ethos use a combination of these different platforms to truly understand where you currently stand and the best routes to get your business to where it wants to be.
Are marketing analytics easy to install on your website?
Marketing analytics generally work through the use of “tags”, which are small pieces of code that live in your website’s source code. This code sends data from your website to analytics platforms where it can be viewed and manipulated.
Digital Ethos prefer the use of Google Tag Manager (GTM) to install and manage any analytics tags which are on your website. GTM keeps all your code tags in one easily managed space. This speeds up your website, reduces development time and resources and helps us to keep tabs of which tags are active on your site at any given time.
If for some reason GTM is not an option, the team at Digital Ethos are experienced with a wide variety of website Content Management Systems (CMS) and server-side files and will be able to install tracking with no disruption to your site’s uptime.
Can offline data be merged with online marketing analytics?
Yes! It does depend on the type of data you want to import, and the platform where it is coming from, but generally it is possible to upload offline metrics into online tracking platforms.
This means you can see Point Of Sale (POS) data alongside your online advertising channels, giving an indication of which channels are providing the most Return On Investment (ROI). Armed with this knowledge, we can divert your marketing resources to wherever they are having the most impact.
