My name’s Ollie and I’m one of the content writers here at Digital Ethos.
I’ve been working at Digital Ethos for 3 years in my current role, and have recently moved into the position of Head of Content overseeing the content delivery across a team of 4 full-time content writers.
For me, content writing is like being an actor and playing a different character with every piece of content that I write. To create a piece of content that I’m proud of, I really have to assume the personality of those who I’m writing on behalf of as well as my target audience. It’s for that exact reason that our writing isn’t charged at an hourly rate; depending on the “character” you’re assuming, one 1000-word piece could take 30 minutes or 3 hours. We take a “Michelin Star” approach to our writing, if it isn’t good enough, it doesn’t leave the kitchen!

How We Do It

CONTENT AND ITS PLACE IN SEO
Unfortunately, in recent years, from a ranking perspective, Google’s algorithm has rewarded irrelevant content that’s jam-packed full of keywords. These have consisted of industry relevant “blogs” & “articles” designed to trick the algorithm itself. Google, however, has thankfully become wise to this, worried that their search engine was becoming flooded by an ocean of uninformative gibberish! This change in algorithm has now meant that Google rewards shareable & engaging content. Put in layman’s terms, this means that if the content is weak, it won’t be seen. And if your content isn’t being seen Google will not reward you from a rankings perspective.

SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
That really depends! If yourself and your staff have the time & skill to create impactful, engaging content on a regular basis then it arguably plays into your hands. If that isn’t the case, however, you’ll likely find it beneficial to have your content regularly updated by myself and the team. All we need from you is a quick brief, a few source references (depending on the topic) and an idea of the style of writing you’re going for. We can handle everything from your website text to blogs, to articles or even press releases on behalf of your company.

SO WHERE DO WE BEGIN?
That’s easy, as with any SEO project we’ll kick things off with a free site audit which will allow us to establish where your website is underperforming from a technical perspective. Once our technical team have ironed out the deficiencies in your website, we’ll then hopefully have a platform whereby the written content we provide you will be given an opportunity to perform. That’s where myself and my team step in and get creative!
