Chevrolet has an international social media presence across 26 countries worldwide. For this particular campaign however, we focused on the social media campaign for the annual Paris Motor Show.

The main objective of this show was to encourage the creation of UGC (user-generated content) from, the people who were attending the event whilst also appealing to fans of Chevrolet’s European, UK and French Facebook pages – regardless of whether they were able to attend the event or not.

So to meet these objectives, a Facebook app was created called #ChevInstafan. This Facebook app sat on the relevant Facebook pages and entrants had to do one simple thing: take a photo of their Chevrolet, Instagram it and upload it to the app. The app utilized a CMS system which meant that we could monitor the pictures which were being sent through and remove any offensive or inappropriate images. The app was then promoted on the Facebook page and shared across the relevant social platforms and marketing channels.

As a result of this we received 500 entries during the competition, engaging with people who were at the event and those who were not attending, and used a live feed on our Facebook page. The Chevrolet campaigns won awards for Best Use of Facebook and Best User Generated Content at the Social Buzz Awards in 2012.
