Bullring runs a ‘Student Lock-in’ event every year where they offer exclusive discounts and student-only access to the shopping centre. In 2013, Bullring wanted to try something different and increase the number of people who attended the event and encourage engagement on social media.

In order to reach the students and encourage engagement on social media we sent an emailer campaign specifically about the student event and embedded a pre-written tweet which encouraged recipients to get involved by tweeting the tweet and entering a competition.

The competition and new email campaign with the embedded tweet resulted in an 89% increase in the number of tweets which were sent mentioning the event, and reached over 5,000 people in total on Twitter alone. As a result of the awareness campaign on Twitter and via email there was a significant increase in the footfall at the event.
